Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri) - 11 of 15 probiotic strains of DeNorma
Lactobacillus reuteri is a bacterium capable of producing antibiotics.
L. reuteri is a rod-shaped bacterium of the species Lactobacillus, named in honor of the German microbiologist Gerhard Reuter.

L. reuteri is found in meat and dairy products. It can also be found in the intestines of mammals: rodents, pigs, sheep, as well as birds (chickens).

In humans, L. reuteri can also occur in the oral cavity, vagina and stomach.
In the intestines this bacterium produces a number of antimicrobials. In particular, reuterin, which can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria (Salmonella, Pseudomonas, Escherichia, Shigella, Staphylococcus, Proteus, Clostridium), without affecting the growth of healthy bacteria.

There is evidence for the benefits of L.reuteri against pneumonia, cyclovirus, rotavirus, Coxsackie virus and human papillomavirus. L.reuteri is also thought to facilitate the course of viral infection by regulating the microflora and isolating metabolites that have antiviral components.

L. reuteri can fight the harmful pathogen Helicobacter pylori, which is the cause of stomach ulcers.

In addition, this probiotic can also be effective for side effects from overuse of antibiotics. Specifically, with C. difficile infection, a form of bacterial growth in the large intestine, which is particularly difficult to treat due to persistent relapses.

Properties of Lactobacillus reuteri:
- probiotic for diarrhea in children
- probiotic against colitis
- for the oral cavity
- for the immune system
(in bacterial vaginosis in women)
- affects the synthesis of histamine and immunity
- participates in the synthesis of vitamins
- fights harmful bacteria and antibiotics
and others.

Lactobacillus reuteri is found in the symbiotic DeNorma.
