Lactococcus lactis - 15 of 15 probiotic stains of DeNorma
Lactococcus lactis is a gram-positive lactic acid producing bacterium widely used in the production of dairy products such as buttermilk, cheese and other fermented products.

L. lactis is also being investigated as potentially possible in the treatment of disease and humans. Its health benefits as a probiotic, however, are little known and are still being researched.

Health Benefits of L. lactis:
- Strengthens immunity.
- L. lactis activates plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) which are important for both innate and adaptive immune responses. Thanks to this, it can lower the risk of catching a cold.
- L. Lactis protects cells from toxins.
- L. lactis alleviates allergies
- L. lactis significantly reduces atopic dermatitis, oesophagitis and bronchitis.
- L. lactis has an anti-inflammatory effect
- Administration of L. lactis to mice suppresses symptoms such as damage to the mucosa of the large intestine and enlargement of the spleen
- L. lactis increases sebum content, potentially enhancing the skin's protective barrier.
- The L. lactis strain maintains skin hydration and improves skin elasticity in middle-aged women
- Exhibits antioxidant properties
- L. lactis lowers blood pressure and LDL cholesterol
- L. lactis reduces blood pressure (systolic and diastolic) and heart rate in people with hypertension.
