Bifidobacterium breve (B. breve for short) is a type of bacteria that has probiotic properties and is usually found in the intestines. They actively ferment carbohydrates to form acetic and lactic acid, synthesize vitamins and polysaccharides, stimulate immunity, suppress the growth of pathogenic and opportunistic microflora, and improve digestive function.
This probiotic bacterium plays an important role in our health. B.breve supports colon function, relieves constipation and reduces flatulence, bloating and diarrhea. B. breve strain helps to improve the condition of the immune system. B.breve has also been shown to be effective against intestinal candidiasis in elderly by helping to prevent the spread of candidiasis to other parts of the body and organs.
Researchers speculate that many cases of irritable bowel syndrome may result from infection with the Candida fungus. The main function of B. breve is the fermentation of oligosaccharides and the production of acetic and lactic acid, which are able to assimilate fiber and are difficult to assimilate in the upper gastrointestinal tract.
Bifidobacteria are also prescribed for:
- prevention of intestinal dysbacteriosis
- support and assistance of the body with diets aimed at weight loss
- lowering cholesterol levels
- restoration of intestinal microflora
- synthesis and assimilation of vitamins and amino acids
- strengthening the immune system
- ensuring proper intestinal motility
- reduction of the effect of carcinogens on the body
- prevention of allergic reactions
