Lactobacillus plantarum (L. plantarum) - 13 of 15 probiotic strains of DeNorma
L. plantarum is one of the 50 or more species of lactobacilli. Together with bifidobacteria, they are the most important settlers of our intestines, and determine their proper functioning from the first days of life.

L. plantarum is one of the most studied species of lactobacilli. Improves the body's ability to fight burns and fungal infections, helps reduce the frequency and duration of colds or flu, lowers blood pressure, reduces pancreatic sepsis, stimulates immunity in children with HIV, reduces the chance of postpartum infection, kidney stones and pneumonia.

In many European studies, 95% of patients who received these bacteria reported a significant reduction in irritable bowel symptoms.

A Swedish study has shown that the use of L. plantarum can reduce the level of flatulence. At the same time, the positive effect of taking this probiotic may remain for a year after stopping taking it.

Taking L.plantarum has also been shown to reduce some gastrointestinal problems caused by the active growth of yeast in the gastrointestinal tract during antibiotic treatment. This bacterium also helps to reduce the level of absorption of heavy metals in the intestine, reduces the accumulation of metals in the tissues and reduces hepatic oxidative stress.

The effectiveness of probiotics in the treatment of such diseases as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer, hypertension, complications of urogenital diseases and liver disorders is currently being studied.

Thus, a study by Swedish scientists from Lund University in 2001 showed that animals treated with the strain L.plantarum 299v improved the condition of the liver and reduced inflammation of the gastric mucosa.

In addition, studies by American scientists show that the use of this probiotic is particularly effective in preventing soy allergies.

In the absence of oxygen, L. plantarum is able to ferment and convert sugars into lactic acid.

In addition, some of their strains can survive without problems throughout the human gastrointestinal tract. And when a healthy colony of L. plantarum lives in the intestines it does not allow the harmful bacteria to enter the mucous membrane and fights them, increasing the nutrients. Without food, harmful bacteria do not have a chance to multiply and, as a result, die or are excreted from the body. But all the important nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants are preserved.

In addition, this probiotic also has a rare ability to produce lysine, an essential amino acid. But one of the most exciting applications of L. plantarum is to use it to deliver therapeutic compounds and proteins to the body. This field of research using bacteria is new and its study is ongoing.

Lactobacillus brevis is contained in the symbiotic DeNorma.
